First time on a yacht? A short checklist of what to wear, what to pack and what to leave at home so the day goes smoothly.

If it is your first time on a yacht, packing is easier than you think. The boat already has what you need to be safe and comfortable. You only have to bring a few personal things.

What to wear

  • Light, comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting a little sea spray on
  • Flat shoes with soft soles: most yachts ask you to remove shoes on deck anyway
  • Swimwear under your clothes if you plan to swim
  • Sunglasses and a hat that will not fly off
  • A light jacket or shawl for the breeze after sunset, especially in winter

Leave high heels at home. They are unsafe on a moving deck and can damage the teak.

What to bring

  • Original ID for every guest, passport or Emirates ID, as it is usually checked before departure
  • Sunscreen
  • A towel if you plan to swim, unless you have confirmed they are provided
  • Your phone, a charger and your playlist: the sound system connects by Bluetooth
  • Any food, cake or decoration you arranged yourself
  • Motion sickness tablets if you are prone to it, taken before you board

What is already on board

Water, soft drinks and ice, life jackets in adult and child sizes, washrooms, and shaded and air conditioned areas. You do not need to bring a cooler.

A few things to know

  • Arrive fifteen minutes early: the booking starts at the agreed time whether or not everyone is on board
  • Count every guest, children included, towards the capacity
  • Listen to the short safety briefing before departure
  • Swim only when the captain says it is safe, and during daylight
  • Keep glass and red drinks away from the upholstery

Travelling with children

Children are welcome. Tell us their ages when you book so the right life jackets are ready, and keep an adult with them on deck at all times.
