The hourly rate covers more than most people expect, but not everything. Here is what a Dubai yacht charter includes and which extras cost more.
The hourly rate is the first number you see when you look at a yacht, and it is fair to ask what that number actually buys. The short answer: the boat, the people who run it and the basics on board. Everything that turns the trip into a specific occasion is usually arranged on top.
What the hourly rate normally covers
On a standard charter in Dubai you can expect the following to be part of the price:
- Private use of the whole yacht for the time you booked
- A licensed captain and deck crew
- Fuel for the regular cruising route
- Water, soft drinks and ice
- The sound system, cabins, washrooms and sun deck
- Life jackets and safety equipment for every guest
That is enough for a relaxed cruise. If all you want is good company, music and the skyline, you do not need to add anything.
What is usually an extra
These are the items guests most often add, and they are quoted separately:
- Catering, from snack platters to a live barbecue or a private chef
- Birthday, proposal or corporate decoration
- A DJ, photographer or videographer
- Jet skis, banana rides and other watersports
- A longer route than the standard one, which uses more fuel
- Extra time on the day, if the yacht is free after your slot
Why extras are quoted separately
A group of four on a sunset cruise and a group of twenty at a birthday need very different things. Bundling everything into one price would mean the small group pays for services it never uses. Keeping the base rate lean lets you build the trip you actually want.
How to avoid surprises
Before you confirm, ask for three things in writing: the total for the yacht and hours, a list of each extra with its price, and the cancellation terms. If your group is close to the guest capacity, mention the exact number, because the limit is fixed by the yacht’s licence and cannot be stretched on the day.
