A private yacht is relaxed, but a few rules apply to every charter in Dubai. What to know about ID, guest numbers, swimming and safety before you board.

A yacht charter is one of the most relaxed ways to spend a few hours in Dubai, and the rules are few. They do exist, though, and they apply to every boat that leaves the Marina. Knowing them in advance saves delays at the dock.

Bring original ID for every guest

Every guest needs an original passport or Emirates ID. Copies and photos on a phone are not reliable, because guest details can be checked before the yacht departs. If one guest has no ID, the whole group can be held up, so remind everyone the day before.

The guest limit is fixed

Each yacht is registered for a maximum number of guests, and that number cannot be exceeded. Children and infants count. If your group grows after you book, tell us before the day: the answer is a larger yacht, not an extra guest.

Children on board

Children of any age are welcome with an adult. Life jackets are on board in adult and child sizes, and the crew will show you where they are. Keep young children with an adult when the yacht is moving and near the swim platform.

Swimming

  • Swimming is only allowed in daylight
  • The captain chooses where to anchor and when it is safe to enter the water
  • Stay close to the yacht and follow the crew’s instructions
  • On charters of two hours or more there is normally time for a swim stop

The captain has the final say

The captain is responsible for everyone on board. The route, the speed, the swim stops and whether a trip can go ahead in the weather are the captain’s decisions. If the coast guard stops trips because of the weather, your charter is rescheduled.

Shoes, smoking and the boat itself

  • Most yachts ask you to remove your shoes or wear soft soles on deck
  • High heels damage teak and are unsafe on a moving boat
  • Ask the crew where smoking is allowed
  • Report any loss or damage to the crew straight away

Food, drinks and music

You are welcome to bring your own food and soft drinks, or we can arrange catering. The sound system is yours to use for your own playlist.

A short checklist

  • Original ID for every guest
  • A final guest count that fits the yacht
  • Arrive 15 minutes early
  • Swimwear, sunscreen and a change of clothes

Follow these and the rest is simple: you step on board and the crew takes care of the yacht.
